8 Ways To Release Anxiety Mentally And Physically

We all have times when stress,anxiety and sleeplessness enter our lives, especially with everything that’s going on these days. The rhythm of our lives can become quite fast-paced, and at times it can all become overwhelming. If that is happening, we need to pay more attention to our bodies, respect and honour them.

The body, heart, mind – they are all linked together. Stress and anxiety are not not only in your mind! They can manifest in our bodies as well!

Put simply, anxiety is a sense of fear and apprehension that puts you on alert. Biologically, it’s meant to put us in a heightened sense of awareness so we’re prepared for potential threats. Unfortunately, when we start to feel excessive anxiety, or we live in a constant state of anxiety, we’re in trouble. Our bodies never turn off our fight or flight response, and we live with the physical and emotional effects of anxiety on a day to day basis, even when there’s no reason or cause for them.

On its face, anxiety can look like stress; but the reality isn’t so simple. Anxiety can arise as a result of stress, but stress can manifest in other ways. Stressors can make a person sad, angry, worried, or anxious, while anxiety is specifically that feeling of fear, dread, and apprehension we mentioned. You may never even know what’s causing your anxiety, or in some cases, it can manifest on its own, without any real “trigger” or cause. Stress is often caused by external influences, while anxiety is an internal response. That’s part of what makes anxiety intrinsically different than stress, and also what makes it so difficult to manage.

However, there are many ways to not only manage stress and anxiety, but release it, or at least reduce it till the point where it no longer impacts our day-to-day lives.

As I’ve mentioned above, we can’t heal an imbalance only on a physical level, or only on a mental level. It’s all connected, which is why I’m going to provide with information on remedies for the physical(body), as well as for the mental (mind).

Here are the natural remedies to heal anxiety and stress:

4 remedies for the body
  1. Chamomile Tea – The most recent study, from the UK’s University of Nottingham Medical School, found that chamomile significantly relaxed blood vessels and smooth muscle fibers. This effect was indicated specifically with the application of three of chamomile’s central constituents, apigenin, luteolin and bisabolol – all hydroxylates. Traditional herbalists will typically recommend the use of anti-anxiety herbs such as chamomile, lavender, St. John’s wort and others over a period of three months to a year in order for them to reach their full effectiveness. After that, they are often recommended to be continued at least periodically or as needed. The good news about chamomile, as evidenced by this and other studies, is that it has no known adverse side effects and is non-addictive. This is in stark contrast to anti-depressant pharmaceuticals, some of which are known for being significantly addictive in addition to having numerous other adverse effects.
  2. Exercise – Exercise will not only make you feel better about yourself, but will flood your body with feel-good endorphins. Some researchers even believe that increasing your body heat, a natural result of exercise, may alter neural circuits controlling cognitive function and mood, including those that affect the neurotransmitter serotonin. Researchers believe this response can boost your mood, increase relaxation, and alleviate anxiety.
  3. Natural sunlight – This is the best way to naturally increase your vitamin-D levels, which can decrease symptoms of depression and anxiety. A short 15 minute break will not only take your mind of stress, but also let you reap the benefits of outdoor activity. And the greener the better—one Japanese study found that people who walked through a forest for 20 minutes had lower stress hormone levels after their walk than those who took a comparable walk in an urban area. If you’re stuck in an urban area, look for parks or quiet tree-lined streets to take a stroll.
  4. Eat foods that reduce anxiety – Asparagus, Blueberries, Avocado, Almonds, Oranges and Spinach are some of the foods that dissolve anxiety
4 remedies for the mind
  1. Face the fear. “If something makes you scared, face it,” says Cassiday. If you feel shy, go out to social functions, she says. Scared of clowns? Go to the circus. It can help, too, to understand that when you worry about what might happen — such as no one will talk to you at the party — your anxiety just rises. Your anxious worry is about the uncertainty, she says. “What a worrier really wants is a promise that everything is going to be OK.” But uncertainty is part of life, she says. Exposure therapy, or facing the fear, helps you learn to live with risk and uncertainty.
  2. Ground yourself. When anxiety hits, ”do something tangible,” says John Tsilimparis, MFT, a marriage and family therapist in Los Angeles and adjunct professor of psychiatry at Pepperdine University.”Take your house keys out, run your fingers along the keys,” says Tsilimparis. “That sensation will give you ‘grounding.’ Pick up a paperweight, hold it in your hand. Or, get an ice cube. Hold it as long as you can do it.”Why does this work? “Your brain can’t be in two places at once,” he says. The activity distracts you from the anxious feelings. “Your mind will shift from racing, catastrophic thoughts [that accompany anxiety] to the cold ice cube in your hand,” he says.According to some research, using a virtual reality distraction system can reduce anxiety during dental procedures. Patients immersed in VR — a computer-generated realistic environment — reported less pain and anxiety than when they didn’t use it.
  3. Laugh it off. Cultivate a good sense of humor and laugh, says  Karen Lynn Cassiday, PhD, president-elect of the Anxiety and Depression Association of America and a clinical psychologist in Chicago.  “Even if you do a fake laugh, you get an instant hit of dopamine,” says Dr. Cassiday. Dopamine is a brain chemical that controls feelings of reward and pleasure.If you’re too tense to laugh on your own, try using technology, she suggests. For example, find a laugh track phone app. Just google phone apps for laughing.In a study presented at a medical meeting, Loma Linda University researchersfound that even anticipating a mirthful laugh reduces the stress hormone cortisol, which increases when you are anxious.
  4. Schedule relaxation. “Sit down and look at your schedule,” says Katherine Raymer, MD, ND, associate clinical professor of naturopathic medicine at Bastyr University, Seattle.”Is there a time to put in a half hour to do whatever you do that is relaxing?” Dr. Raymer asks. That can be a walk, meditation, yoga, tai chi or anything you find relaxing. What Is A Medicine Wheel And How Can You Create Your Own ?

Medicine wheels were constructed by laying stones in a particular pattern on the ground. Most medicine wheels follow the basic pattern of having a center cairn of stones, and surrounding that would be an outer ring of stones, then there would be “spokes”, or lines of rocks, coming out the cairn.

Almost all medicine wheels would have at least two of the three elements mentioned above (the center cairn, the outer ring, and the spokes), but beyond that there were many variations on this basic design, and every wheel found has been unique and has had its own style and eccentricities.

The most common deviation between different wheels are the spokes. There is no set number of spokes for a medicine wheel to have. The spokes within each wheel are rarely evenly spaced out, or even all the same length. Some medicine wheels will have one particular spoke that’s significantly longer than the rest, suggesting something important about the direction it points.

Another variation is whether the spokes start from the center cairn and go out only to the outer ring, or whether they go past the outer ring, or whether they start at the outer ring and go out from there.

What do they mean ?

Medicine wheels have been built and used for so long, and each one has enough unique characteristics, that archeologists have found it nearly impossible to tell exactly what each one was for, and haven’t had much success at making broad generalizations about their function and meaning.

One of the older wheels has been dated to over 4,500 years old; it had been built up by successive generations who would add new features to the circle. Due to the long existence of such a basic structure, archeologists suspect that the function and meaning of the medicine wheel changed over time, and it is doubtful that we will ever know what the original purpose was.

It is not hard to imagine that medicine wheels, like most large stone structures, would probably have served a ceremonial or ritual purpose. There is evidence of dancing within some of the wheels. Other wheels were probably used as part of a ritual vision quest.

Astronomer John Eddy put forth the theory that some of the wheels had astronomical significance, where the longest spoke on a wheel could be pointing to a certain star at a certain time of the year, suggesting that the wheels were a way to mark certain days of the year.

The Hopi Medicine Wheel

hopimedicinewheel

In the Hopi Medicine Wheel of the Hopi prophecy of the four peoples of the Earth, the cardinal direction North represents the body, plants and animals, the color white and ‘white skinned peoples’, and Childhood. (can also represent birth, and/or meeting a stranger and learning to trust as in infancy, explained in Erik Erikson’s stages of Psychosocial development).

The East is held to represent the mind, air, the color yellow and ‘yellow skinned peoples’, learning the groups to which people belong and Adolescence.

The South holds the heart, fire, the color red and ‘red skinned peoples’, and Adulthood.

Finally West holds the spirit, water, the color blue or black, and ‘black-skinned peoples’ and Elderhood. West also represents the final life stage in the wheel, being an elder and passing on knowledge to the next generation so that the wheel may start again just like the circle it takes after.

In many other tribes, however, the Northern direction corresponds to Adulthood (the White Buffalo), the South represents Childhood (the Serpent), the West represents Adolescence (the Bear) and the Eastern direction represents Death and Re-birth (Eagle). In terms of social dynamics, community building and the use of Circles in Restorative Justice work, the four quadrants of the circle correspond to Introductions.

How To Make A Medicine Wheel

The most widely used version of the Medicine Wheel comes from the Lakota tradition. At its most basic, it consists of a large or special center stone to represent Wakan-Tanka, the Great Everything, and four smaller stones to represent the cardinal directions (N, S, E, W). Sometimes four even smaller stones representing the ordinal directions (NE, SE, SW, NW) are also used.

The Medicine Wheel can be of any size. Outdoor Medicine Wheels can be made large enough for a group of people to sit within it. It can be made much smaller so that only you can sit within it. Or it can be made in a small travel-size which you sit outside of and that can be taken anywhere and set up anywhere.

Also I have found this video that shows how you can create a larger medicine wheel:

Conclusion

No one Medicine Wheel is the Medicine Wheel for all of Native America.  The differences as mentioned are extremely wide.   One must also remember that the Medicine Wheel is exceptionally individual.  A person can develop their own Medicine Wheel that has their own Animal/Spirit Helpers. This knowledge may happen in ceremony, visions, or dreams and other.  This type of Medicine Wheel can be so private that only the person and The Creator are aware of its existence.

Ascension Guidance: Current Energies Update

Sun has entered the sign of Leo now and many can already feel the inner fire and the energy of the gateways we are going to go through in the next moments. We have been preparing for this for a while now, we’ve been transforming and transcending self on many levels, in order to be able to anchor these new waves of Light into our beingness. We are still in that cycle at the moment, where we shift internally at an accelerated pace, but in the moments to come there will be more outer shifting compared to the month of July.

I wish I could put everything that’s currently happening into words, but that would take forever because of the complexity of the process, so I will try to keep it as simple as always. From how I see it now, there are two choices. You can either choose to stagnate and make no changes at all or you can choose to allow the shifting, purging, transcendence into the Source spark you are meant to be to occur.

The power of choice is stronger than we can imagine. Once you have made your heart-felt decision, with clarity and certainty about what you really want, it can open up so many new pathways, so choose wisely. No decisions are to be judged, none is better or worse than the other, they just are. All paths lead in the same direction and will inevitably intertwine at some point, it is only about the journey to that point, so don’t be afraid of making decisions.

Being afraid to make decisions, or being stuck in the procrastination mode (which is kind of the same thing) is not the best place to be in, that’s just common sense. There’s no fun in missing the adventure. So, you have to discover and know what is best for you and love yourself enough to take action towards that which you desire.

This is what the last month of July was about, which continues throughout the month of August.  It was about finding the blessing in all the challenges we’ve experienced as we went through the month.The month is not done though and we’re only beginning to expand into the self-love theme. We have been going through many initiations, as we transcended some shadow aspects related to interactions with other people, who triggered that process, old programming that needed to be dissolved and a lot of lower vibrational energy accumulated throughout the eons in our cellular memory taking the shape of emotions, most of the time.

This is one of the reasons why we have to allow the emotions to flow through us, observe and feel them. That way they get released if we don’t hold onto them, making space for more joyful feelings, making room for the Soul to come to the surface and dance through you in human embodiment. (process known also as ascension)

 352241

The reward for overcoming all these challenges is in essence self-love, which is the best gift you can give to yourself. At the end of the day, I say all this purging  it’s all worth it, it is all to be enjoyed and all these challenges have to be honoured and seen for what they really are:  an accelerated way for fast Soul growth. They are the most visible signs that you truly are shifting, transcending what no longer serves you, transcending duality, ascending. In those moments, remember this and remember their job is not to bring you down, but to uplift you, teach you, assist you integrate higher states of being eventually.

As I have said before, the purging of July was necessary for us to make space for the next waves of Light, which I feel are going to be one of the most intense ones of this year. Our energy field has expanded and our light quotient has been going up a lot, as a result of all this transformation. Now it is time to replace the old with the New. There are many “outside” factors facilitating the integration of this “new” higher light (new on Earth since a few eons ago) such as the galactic New Year gateway on the 26 of July and also the 26th marks the opening of the Lion’s gateway, which will culminate on the 12th of August, which happens to be my birthday (whoot whoot?!).

Anyways, as always, try not to focus too much on dates. As much as Ascension is a collective process in the now moment, it is first of all an individual process. Things can happen sooner or later for some, it is a multi-dimensional experience. I am going to write another article on Lion’s gate soon enough, as this article is already getting too long.

All I have written above is very connected to the archetype of the Leo sign, which is all about self-love, nurturing, freedom, bringing to light shadow aspects in order to connect more with our authentic nature and opening up to our full creative potential, our passion. Are you going to take advantage of these energies to do so ?! As always, it is a choice.

This gift will support you to feel the powerful ascension frequencies, keys and codes pouring down upon us at this time July – September, from the stargate of the Blue Star Sirius – as a portal opens due to the Sun Conjuncts Sirius Alignment, which is an annual Dance!  It will allow you to clear and open to receive these powerful frequencies, in order to shift your frequency higher!  To further enhance your connection to the unified field of all creation and the realisation of your God self and Oneness.

The Sumerians, Ancient Egyptians, Babylonians, Ancient Greeks, American Indians, The Dogon Tribe of Africa and many more cultures have observed, honored and revered the movement of Sirius and this particular annual alignment.  In Sumeria and Ancient Egypt – this time was very important, the conjunction marked the beginning of the calendar year and signaled the Annual rise of the River Nile. The Great Pyramid of Giza was built in perfect alignment with Sirius.  At the exact peak of the annual Sun/Sirius Conjunction the Egyptian Star Priestesses/Priests would conduct sacred ceremony, directing the powerful starry ascension codes to initiates in order to facilitate their en’light’enment and spiritual growth!

The Gayatri Mantra – Mantra Of Increased Wisdom, Spiritual Growth & Development

Gayatri Mantra (the mother of the vedas), the foremost mantra in hinduism and hindu beliefs, inspires wisdom. Its meaning is that “May the Almighty God illuminate our intellect to lead us along the righteous path”. The mantra is also a prayer to the “giver of light and life” – the sun (savitur).

Oh God! Thou art the Giver of Life,
Remover of pain and sorrow,
The Bestower of happiness,
Oh! Creator of the Universe,
May we receive thy supreme sin-destroying light,
May Thou guide our intellect in the right direction.

Gayatri, the five-faced Goddess, is said to have domain over the five senses or pranas, and protects these five life-forces of those who chant the Gayatri Mantra. In her role as the protector, Gayatri is referred to as Savitri.

Origin of the Gayatri Mantra

The Vedas are widely considered to be the source of all true knowledge, the word “Veda” itself meaning “Knowledge”. Gayatri Devi also gave to mankind the “Gayatri Mantra”, also known as the “Guru Mantra” or the “Savitri Mantra”. It is one of the oldest mantras, and generally thought of as being amongst the highest and most powerful mantras of all. This mantra is therefore often referred to as “the Mother of the Vedas”. In the Bhagavad Gita, Lord Krishna had proclaimed to Arjuna – “Among all the mantras, I am the Gayatri”.

Chanting of the Gayatri Mantra

The ideal times for chanting the mantra are three times a day – at dawn, mid-day, and at dusk. These times are known as the threesandhyas – morning, mid-day and evening. The maximum benefit of chanting the mantra is said to be obtained by chanting it 108 times. However, one may chant it for 3, 9, or 18 times when pressed for time.

Rishis selected the words of the Gayatri Mantra and arranged them so that they not only convey meaning but also create specific power of righteous wisdom through their utterance. Chanting of Gayatri Mantra removes all obstacles in our path to increased wisdom and spiritual growth and development. The teachings and powers incorporated in the Gayatri Mantra fulfill this purpose. Righteous wisdom starts emerging soon after Jap(recitation) of the Gayatri Mantra is performed.

The syllables of the mantra are said to positively affect all the chakras or energy centres in the human body – hence, proper pronunciation and enunciation are very important. Sathya Sai Babateaches that the Gayatri Mantra “will protect you from harm wherever you are, make your intellect shine, improve your power of speech, and dispel the darkness of ignorance (Dhiyoyonah prachodayaath)”.

Word for Word Meaning of the Gayatri Mantra

The Gayatri Mantra is unique in that it embodies the three concepts of stotra (singing the praise and glory of God), dhyaana (meditation) and praarthana (prayer).

Aum = Brahma ;
bhoor = embodiment of vital spiritual energy(pran) ;
bhuwah = destroyer of sufferings ;
swaha = embodiment of happiness ;
tat = that ;
savitur = bright like sun ;
varenyam = best choicest ;
bhargo = destroyer of sins ;
devasya = divine ;
these first nine words (stotra describe the glory of God
dheemahi = may imbibe ; pertains to meditation
dhiyo = intellect ;
yo = who ;
naha = our ;
prachodayat = may inspire!
“dhiyo yo na prachodayat” is a prayer to God

Significance of Gayatri Mantra as Prayer

The Gayatri Mantra occupies a unique place in that it has both the power of mantra and of prarthana (prayer). A mantra may be articulate or inarticulate, or a combination of them, as with AUM. It has an inherent power, known as “Mantra shakti”, which has a positive influence not due to any philosophical meaning behind the mantra, but simply due to its utterance alone. The Gayatri mantra has both an intrinsic power (ie “mantra shakti”), through its mere utterance alone, and also an instrumental power (ie “prarthana shakti”), which is derived from the understanding of its meaning and philosophical significance. Hence, the repeated and correct chanting of the Gayatri Mantra, with proper understanding of its meaning, is believed to be of the greatest good to the individual. (Details of each syllable can be found in the Gayatri by Words article)

The prayer form of the Gayatri takes various forms. The Gayatri Mantra is also known as the Savitri Mantra, in which form, it is invoked as a salutation to the Sun. The form that can be used to pray to Lord Shiva is called Rudra Gayatri. Similarly, one may sing Ganesha Gayatri for Lord Ganesha,Hanuman Gayatri for Lord Hanuman, and Saraswati Gayatri for Goddess Saraswati.
