I’m A Control Freak. Now What?

Most of us know by now, as proven countless times in our collective and individual history that control, in any way, shape or form, whether we do it to ourselves and/or to others, whether it is subtle  or apparent, it  is dysfunctional and it is something we eventually have to grow through for obvious reasons, but how do we actively do that and what does fully letting go of control means ?

Many of us have tried to control ourselves, what we’re experiencing and how and when, we tried to control the future because our minds thought it’s safer this way, it provides us with this very temporary feeling of comfort, an illusionary security.  For a moment, this might seem to work well, we feel safe and stable, and control does seem to create some kind of order in some ways, so it’s fine to play in it for a few moments, it serves a purpose. But in this space we’ve created, there is no room for expansion, for growth, for self-discovery and exploration. Control comes from some sort of fear always.

Simply put, as long as control is part of our daily practices, life won’t be lived to the fullest. It’s limiting our capacity, our potential, it steals our joy and it becomes exhausting to even try to control everything. Taken to the extreme, we will begin to try to control others around us, and this will just add up to our unhappiness, as control will most likely make relationships wither in time.

Then there comes a moment when this reality simply doesn’t serve us anymore and we are ready to grow and expand through it, and that’s when the reality that’s been built on control starts crumbling down bit by bit and things might get a little bit wonky then. There will be frustration, disappointment, constant irritation, exhaustion, and that’s O.K too. The reality as we knew it in “control-mode” is turned upside down, we are being shaken up, so we can expand. The control freak that’s in many of us begins to feel threatened and emotional reactions like the ones I just mentioned will follow on and on, until we allow ourselves to understand and integrate the wisdom that is being reflected in this experience, until we acknowledge the control freak within us and we allow it to mature and blossom into something more aligned with our free spirit.

Control can be such a great teacher, but to learn from it we have to pay attention like a student in class. In order to be able to learn from the teacher, there needs to be quiet in the room, pay attention to the lesson presented to absorb the knowledge, learn the lesson. Therefore, as with most things, we need to stop for a moment and reflect on our experience so far.

In essence, control is merely a cheap dualistic replica of our soul’s will and power, the aspect within us that “gets things done”, that moves things forward, the action taking aspect. We confused being in charge, an empowered individual with being in control, which are two completely different things.

Being in control means being fixated on very specific outcomes, it means supressing and repressing, as well as manipulating to get what we want, at times lying to do that, only to find ourselves living a life that lacks passion, adventure, spontaneity, and surrender. A dull life.

Being in charge means being aware that we are responsible in all ways for what we are experiencing and directing the energy consciously where we want it to go, as we surrender to what it is and will be, as we allow that directed energy to take the shape that serves us best. This is not to be confused with being passive. Action always needs to be taken, we are physical human beings. Divine will works through us, it doesn’t take actions for us. These actions that need to be taken will be revealed to us one way or another. We simply have to be receptive and open minded, open-hearted and in order to be receptive we have to be present in the moment of now, to be able to recognize and see clearly the opportunities that are being presented to us.

In this case, surrender is the key. Allowing life to unfold as it is, allowing ourselves to be who we are, allowing ourselves to experience what is, allowing ourselves to let go of perceptions, expectations with complete trust that all is unfolding perfectly for us, no matter how it looks in the moment or how chaotic everything might be.

One of the reasons why this dualistic earth experience/experiment is so precious is that we are learning and have learned the two sides of the same coin, so we can absorb the knowledge and wisdom from each experience to be able to choose the one we want.

With so many planets currently in retrograde, I felt compelled to share this piece of information. I see planets in retrograde as older siblings who sometimes playfully pick on us, teasing and triggering us, but love us unconditionally and want what’s best for us. The same goes with planets in retrograde. They highlight the aspects within us that need to be matured through “triggers.” They pick on those aspects and areas of our lives where progress might’ve been slow or inexistent. Those are the aspects and areas where growth and expansion are most needed for us to eventually blossom into a  whole and illumined human being.

The control freak aspect within us is very much picked on these days for many of us. The conditioning around control is very deep. Remember always that your response alone to a challenging outer or inner experience can shift an experience completely. Reacting strengthens and supports the on-going experience of the same thing, possibly with different nuances, players and playground. Many perceive this as some”karma” that is out to get us, because we did something “bad” and we’re “paying” for it. This perception is outdated, as that is not the case. When a pattern repeats itself, we create it to eventually transform, absorb its wisdom and integrate what’s necessary from it in our human psyche and, inevitably, in our daily lives. It’s all designed to facilitate our soul-human evolution.

A Spoken Guided Visualization Meditation: Letting Go Of Control – Surrender

” ~ Come to the edge, he said. They said, “We are afraid.” Come to the edge, He said. They came. He pushed them. And they flew! ~Guillaume Apollinaire. This happens to be one of my favourite quotations and I do my best to live by this. We can take the leap of faith in our lives by trusting that we are safe beyond measure. And to develop this trust, it is important for us to have a calm and focused mind. The best way to the other side, is through deep meditation. “

C.G Jung – The Four Major Archetypes

The term “archetype” has its origins in ancient Greek. The root words are archein, which means “original or old”; and typos, which means “pattern, model or type”. The combined meaning is an “original pattern” of which all other similar persons, objects, or concepts are derived, copied, modeled, or emulated.

The psychologist, Carl Gustav Jung, used the concept of archetype in his theory of the human psyche. He believed that universal, mythic characters—archetypes—reside within the collective unconscious of people the world over. Archetypes represent fundamental human motifs of our experience as we evolved; consequentially, they evoke deep emotions.

Most, if not all, people have several archetypes at play in their personality construct; however, one archetype tends to dominate the personality in general. It can be helpful to know which archetypes are at play in oneself and others, especially loved ones, friends and co-workers, in order to gain personal insight into behaviors and motivations.

C.G Jung listed four main categories of archetypes:

  1. The Shadow
  2. The Anima
  3. The Animus
  4. The Self

The Shadow is a very common archetype that reflects deeper elements of our psyche, where ‘latent dispositions’ which are common to us all arise. It also reflects something that was once split from us in early management of the objects in our lives.

We may see the shadow in others and, if we dare, know it in ourselves. Mostly, however, we deny it in ourselves and project it onto others. It can also have a life of its own, as the Other. A powerful goal that some undertake is to re-integrate the shadow, the dark side, and the light of the ‘real’ self. If this can be done effectively, then we can become ‘whole’ once again, bringing together that which was once split from us.

Our shadow may appear in dreams, hallucinations and musings, often as something or someone who is bad, fearsome or despicable in some way. It may seduce through false friendship or threaten with callous disregard. Encounters with it, as an aspect of the subconscious, may reveal deeper thoughts and fears. It may also take over direct physical action when the person is confused, dazed or drugged.

” To confront a person with his shadow is to show him his own light. Once one has experienced a few times what it is like to stand judgingly between the opposites, one begins to understand what is meant by the self. Anyone who perceives his shadow and his light simultaneously sees himself from two sides and thus gets in the middle. ”

– Book: Good and Evil in Analytical Psychology” (1959). In CW 10. Civilization in Transition. P.872

Anima and Animus  are female and male principles that represent this deep difference. Whilst men have a fundamental animus and women an anima, each may also have the other, just as men have a feminine side and women a masculine. Jung saw men as having one dominant anima, contributed to by female members of his family, whilst women have a more complex, variable animus, perhaps made of several parts.

Jung theorized the development of the anima/animus as beginning with infant projection onto the mother, then projecting onto prospective partners until a lasting relationship can be found.

The Self – For Jung, the self is not just ‘me’ but God. It is the spirit that connects and is part of the universe. It is the coherent whole that unifies both consciousness and unconsciousness. It may be found elsewhere in such principles as nirvana and ecstatic harmony. It is perhaps what Jaques Lacan called ‘the real’.

Jung described creation of the self as a process of individuation, where all aspects are brought together as one. Thus ‘re-birth’ is returning to the wholeness of birth, before we start to split our selves into many parts.

Jung said that there are a large number of archetypes. These are often linked to the main archetypes and may represent aspects of them. They also overlap and many can appear in the same person. For example:

Family archetypes:

  • The father: Stern, powerful, controlling
  • The mother: Feeding, nurturing, soothing
  • The child: Birth, beginnings, salvation

Story archetypes:

  • The hero: Rescuer, champion
  • The maiden: Purity, desire
  • The wise old man: Knowledge, guidance
  • The magician: Mysterious, powerful
  • The earth mother: Nature
  • The witch or sorceress: Dangerous
  • The trickster: Deceiving, hidden

Animal archetypes:

  • The faithful dog: Unquestioning loyalty
  • The enduring horse: Never giving up
  • The devious cat: Self-serving

Ascension Guidance: The Lion’s Gate – 8/8/8

Every year we go through a powerful gateway that assists the collective to move forward and deeper in the Ascension process. On the 8th of August our planet will align with the galactic center and with the blue sun – Sirius. During this alignment, intense waves of light will flow through the galactic center, Earth’s grid, the sun, Sirius, the pyramids and the sphinx. These waves contain mastery codes for the next phase of Ascension.

Many people have written a lot about this gateway already, there is a lot of information about it out there, so there’s not many things left to be said, just experienced I guess, as each person has its own unique experience as always.

For example to read more about the history behind the Lion’s Gate, you can click on this amazing article by Celia Fenn that really resonated with me.

http://www.starchildglobal.com/channels-and-articles/when-two-suns-rise/

” It was the Sirians who first taught us about the “Christ Consciousness” that was embodied in the Golden Light of the Sun. The Gold Frequency was Divine Light and it carried the energy of Divine Love and Compassion. As Humanity opened themselves to receive more of the transmissions of the Divine Light and more of the Light Codes that would elevate consciousness, they embraced the Gold Light and activated the Light Body and Multi-dimensional consciousness. The first Sirian Avatars of the Christ Consciousness were Isis and her partner Osiris, who brought the Golden Light to Egypt. The second Sirian Avatars were Yeshua, known as Jesus, and his partner, Mary Magdalene. Together they embodied the Divine Masculine and Feminine frequencies of the Gold Frequency of the Christ Consciousness. “

Officially, the Lion’s gate is “open” from the 26th of July, until the 14th of August. Here’s the thing with dates though; this is a very multi-dimensional collective event, but at the end of the day it is all experienced on an individual level. The experience of it depends on many factors: your Soul purpose, growth “plan”, the “level” of consciousness, necessary upgrades etc. What I mean is the energy of the Lion’s gate goes beyond the 14th of August and it can be experienced sooner or later by some, in divine timing nonetheless. The Lion’s gate is always open to whoever chooses to connect with its energy, with Star Sirius.

The main message is: Don’t be alarmed if seemingly nothing is happening and you are not “feeling it” and don’t be alarmed if you feel the intensity either. Learn to flow with the intensity, to flow in general. To surrender to the flow while also creating it – navigating it. Let things be as they are. Allow each experience to unfold as it is, no expectations, no limitations, no blocking it or attaching any dualistic thinking pattern (bad, good, wrong, right, negative, positive) to it. Move away from that a bit, if you so feel inclined. A neutral state is preferred as from that place we can create with clarity and it is also a state of greater bliss, of peacefulness.  As always, it’s of major importance to use your inner compass, as that will facilitate an easy, joyful, miracle abundant navigation.

The Lion’s gate is clearly supported by the Leo archetype.

Copy (2) of sandsoftime2

The usual Leo archetype characteristics everybody knows are pride, self-centeredness, egotistical behavour etc. While yes, you could call those characteristics part of the Leo archetype, that is only a dualistic perception. Most people who have been unaware/unconscious acted that way, or still do. No judgement whatsoever. I know the traits well, because I’m a Leo.

However, once transformed, the Leo archetype’s “lower” characteristics, only embodiment of self-love can come out of it, as well as becoming a true Soul-empowered individual. So, use the Leo archetype and the Lion’s gate to integrate deeper states of self-love and empower yourself in all aspects and all the areas of your life, of your beingness. That can only lead to a complete unification within yourself, a completion, harmony and balance. Such a potent gateway!

On the “technical” side of Ascension, as we go through the Lion’s gate, our Solar Plexus chakra (our power center) is being upgraded massively, constantly expanding as people are becoming more and more aware of their power and unlimited potential. That implies a transcendence of things related to the power aspects such as control, ego, manipulation, abuse of power, all sorts of social programming, healing of traumatic events (possibly embedded deep in the cells)  etc. which can be expressed as overwhelming emotions, so just allow the experience of this as well if it’s coming up.

The purest true power lies in the connection with the Soul Source, in the unification with it, which is currently in process. The vibration of 8/8/8 is also related to abundance and infinity, boundlesness and the merging/unification I just mentioned. As a reminder, ascension is not us going to some other dimension in some other world or whatever, it is more about bringing more Spirit, Soul, Source in our physical bodies, on Earth.

With all that being said, to eventhough it’s an annual event, every lion’s gate is different as there are more celestial events at play mixing with it, such as Venus retrograde, which gives us an opportunity to look at our relationships differently and see where there’s more work that needs to be done. Unity Consciousness is anchoring in the hearts of more people and this gateway will also facilitate some ancient connections between some people. All is well and as it should, it is more than well, it’s divinely perfect.

Happy Lion’s Gate!

Releasing Your Control Drama

Recently, I’ve started reading a James Redfield book called: The Celestine Prophecy. It’s a good read for people who are on their awakening path, definitely recommended. What really caught my attention and I felt is significant for the period we are in is the control drama archetypes that James described so well in his book. I am going to share a few paragraphs that describe these archetypes, with a few notes from myself.

Bare in mind that these dramas are extremely subtle and have been passed through generations. It is some deeply ingrained social programming so don’t feel guilty and don’t be too hard on yourself if you discover you have been playing into these dramas or creating them all along. Instead, as the information of these control dramas come into your awareness, take responsability and become more mindful of the energy of it, in order to transcend these outdated programs.

Here are some paragraphs that describe control dramas in general:

We must face up to our particular way of controlling others. Remember, the Fourth Insight reveals that humans have always felt short of energy and have sought to control each other to acquire the energy that flows between people. The Fifth then shows us that an alternative Source exists, but we can’t really stay connected with this source until we come to grips with the particular method that, we, as individuals, use in our controlling, and stop doing it – because whenever we fall back into this habit, we get disconnected from the source.

Getting rid of this habit isn’t easy because it’s always unconscious at first. The key to letting it go is to bring it fully into our consciousness, and we do that by seeing that our particular style of controlling others is one we learned in childhood to get attention, to get the energy moving our way, and we’re stuck there. This style is something we repeat over and over again. I call it our unconscious control drama.

I call it a drama because it is one familiar scene, like a scene in a movie, for which we write the script as youths. Then we repeat this scene over and over in our daily lives without being aware of it. All we know is that the same kind of events happen to us repeteadly. The problem is if we are repeating one particular scene over and over, then the other scenes of our real life movie, the high adventure marked by coincidences can’t go forward. We stop the movie when we repeat this one drama in order to manipulate for energy. “

” The first step in the process of getting clear, for each of us, is to bring our particular control drama into full consciousness. Nothing can proceed until we really look at ourselves and discover what we are doing to manipulate for energy. This is what has just happened to you. “

Note – The solution to ending these unhealthy exchanges of energy is the realization that within, you have access to an infinite, never-ending amount of energy constantly flowing through you if you allow it to.

” Each of us must go back into our past, back into our early family life, and see how this habit was formed. Seeing its inception keeps our way of controlling in consciousness. Remember, most of our family members were operating in a drama themselves, trying to pull energy out of us as children. This is why we had to have a strategy to win energy back. It is always in relation to our family members that we develop our particular dramas. However, once we recognize the energy dynamics in our families, we can go past these control stategies and see what was really happening.

Each person must reinterpret his family experience from an evolutionary point of view, from a spiritual point of view, and discover who he really is. Once we do that, our control drama falls away and our real lives take off.  ”

The next paragraphs give us an insight of how the 4 control drama archetypes operate.

” So how do I begin ?

By first understanding how your drama was formed. Tell me about your father.

He is a good man who is fun-loving and capable but… I hesitated, not wanting to sound ungrateful toward my father.

But what ? Sanchez asked.

Well, I said, he was always critical. I could never do anything right.

How did he criticize you ? Sanchez asked.

A picture of my father, young and strong, appeared in my mind. ‘ He asked questions, then found something wrong with the answers.’

And what happened to your energy ?

I guess I felt drained so I tried to keep from telling him anything.

You mean you got vague and distant, trying to say things in a way that would get to his attention but not reveal enough to give him something to criticize. He was the Interrogator and you dodged around him with your aloofness

Yeah, I guess. But what is an interrogator ?

An Interrogator is another kind of drama. People who use this means of gaining energy, set up drama of asking questions and probing into another person’s world with specific purpose of finding something wrong. Once they do, then they criticize this aspect of the other’s life. If this strategy succeeds then the person being criticized is pulled into drama. They suddenly find themselves becoming self-conscious around the interrogator and paying attention to what the interrogator is doing and thinking about, so as not to do something wrong that the interrogator would notice. This psychic deference gives the interrogator the energy he desires.

Think about the times you have been around someone like this. When you get caught up in this drama, don’t you tend to act a certain way so that the person won’t criticize you ? He pulls you off your own path and drains your energy because you judge yourself by what he might be thinking.

Let me explain the classifications spoken of in the Manuscript. Sanchez said. Everyone manipulates for energy either aggressively, directly, forcing people to pay attention to them, or passively, playing on people’s sympathy or curiosity to gain attention. For instance, if someone threatens you, either verbally or physically, then you are forced, for fear of something bad happening to you, to pay attention to him and so to give him energy. The person threatening you would be pulling you into the most aggressive kind of drama, what the Sixth Insight calls the Intimidator.

If on the other hand, someone tells you all the horrible things that are already happening to them, implying perhaps that you are responsible, and that, if you refuse to help, these horrible things are going to continue, then this person is seeking to control at a poor me drama. Think about this one for a moment. Haven’t you ever been around someone who makes you feel guilty when you’re in their presence, even though you know there is no reason to feel this way ?

Yes.

Well, it’s because you have entered the drama world of Poor Me. Everything they say and do puts you in a place where you have to defend against the idea that you’re not doing enough for this person. That’s why you feel guilty just being around them.

I nodded.

Anyone’s drama can be examined, he continued, according to where it falls on this spectrum from aggressive to passive. If a person is subtle in their aggression, finding fault and slowly undermining your world in order to get your energy, then, as we saw in your father, this person would be an interrogator. Less passive than the poor me would be your aloofness drama. So the order of dramas goes this way: Intimidator, Interrogator, Aloof and Poor Me

A person goes to whatever extreme necessary to get attention energy in their family. And after that, this strategy becomes their dominant way of controlling to get strategy from everyone, the drama they constantly repeat.

I understand the intimidator, I said, but how does the interrogator develop ?

What would you do if you were a child and your family members were either not there or ignored you because they were preoccupied with their career or something ?

I don’t know.

Playing aloof wouldn’t get their attention; they wouldn’t notice. Wouldn’t you have to resort to probing and prying and finally finding something wrong in these aloof people in order to force attention and energy ?This is what an interrogator does.

I began to get the insight. ‘ Aloof people create interrogators! ‘

That’s right.

And interrogators make people aloof! And intimidators create the poor me approach, or if this fails, another intimidator!

Exactly. That’s how control dramas perpetuate themselves. But remember, there is a tendancy to see these dramas in others but to think that we ourselves are free from such devices. Each of us must transcend this illusion before we can go on. Almost all of us tend to be stuck, at least some of the time, in a drama and we have to step back and look at ourselves long enough to discover what it is.

I was silent for a moment. Finally I looked at Sanchez again and asked: Once we see our drama, what happens next ?

We are truly free to become more than the unconscious act we play. As I said before, we can find a higher meaning for our lives, a spiritual reason we were born to our particular families. We can begin to get clear about who we really are. ”

In conclusion: Be mindful of your energy. Don’t go into guilt mode if you realize you have been creating some drama, we all chose to experience duality for a while, so there’s nothing to feel guilty about. It’s just an experience. Guilt is unnecessary, it’s like jumping  from drama to another drama, from control drama to victim drama. Give some love and kindness to yourself. Taking responsability for your own creations is a much better idea and it is an important theme now, especially as we go through this full moon gateway.

Andrew Martin: Letting It Be Vs. Letting It Go

In this video, Andrew Martin, an amazing intuitive energy healer/reader is sharing with us the wisdom gathered from his personal experiences related to radical changes that he’s been through in his life.  He’s a good example of having the courage to take quantum leaps, even when the odds don’t seem to be in your favour.

Trusting and having faith that all goes as “planned” and in alignment with each person’s highest good is necessary to have in these situations. It’s important to connect within, because within we have the knowing, the guidance and all we need to navigate through these changes with ease. It is a place of surrender to what is, of allowing life to take its natural course, instead of trying to control situations and outcomes. Andrew Martin is teaching us just that, in a grounded and humorous way, as always.

” www.thelightedones.com – Andrew Martin is an Intuitive, Energy Healer and Spiritual Rebel in Seattle, Wa. Contact me for readings and healings. It’s not always easy facing the truth of who we are. Especially when we’ve spent a lot of time, money, and energy to pretend we’re someone else.
Self discovery is always liberating. I’ve never meet anyone who regrets doing the inner work necessary to uncover a life that feels authentic and true. I am here to help you begin the journey to creating the life you want and it all starts with you getting real. ” – Andrew
